OTHER INITIATIVES

1. Chartering of the ISM Energized Toastmasters Club:

We chartered the Toastmasters Club under the PETROTECH banner in April 2010. The Club currently has 36 members. It has organized over 30 successful meetings. Toastmasters International strives to help people develop their communication and leadership skills through their educational program which consists of completing several projects. The Club also organized the Humorous Speech and Evaluation contests with the winners going on the represent the Club and the Area at the Division Level contests in Kolkata.

2. Launching the CASP (Competitive and Assessed Selection Program):

This event was organized to choose the best team members of the organizing committee of the Chapter. First, we gave a WIFM (What’s in it for me?) presentation to invite applications. We screened 42 applicants on the basis of their CVs, a chapter quiz and an interview. We selected a total of 22 students, divided them into two teams and asked them to execute the activities of the society over a period of 6 weeks. At the end of this period based on their 360 degree feedback and a term end presentation we have selected a final group of 10 core members of the organizing committee of the chapter.

3. Launching the SAP (Student Ambassador Program):

FFI, an NGO had organized an inter school Dhanbad quiz competition. We inducted the winners at the school level as student ambassadors of our chapter at their schools. Every semester, we convene a grand meeting to ask the students to spread the message of Petroleum Conservation at their school.

4. Launching the Chapter T Shirt.

We launched the PETROTECH Chapter T shirt. Priced at Rs. 250/- each we have sold over 250 shirts.

5. Website Update and Web album.

We have laid down procedures such that all event summaries are update onto the chapter website within a week and the event photos are updated onto a web album within 72 hours of each event.

6. Sending 12 Representatives to PETROTECH WPC conference in New Delhi.

Our chapter was successful at sending 5 sponsored students, 3 event finalists and 4 paid students to the recently held PETROTECH World Petroleum Congress at New Delhi in November 2010.
