Guest Lecture on Sand Control Measures in Mangala Field, Rajasthan

Mr. Vipin Kumar, Principal Petroleum Engineer, Cairn India and Mr. Parvez Khan, Sand Control Specialist, Baker Hughes delivered a guest lecture, which was organized in GJLT. It was well attended with over 150 students and many professors.
The lecture started with Mr. Vipin Kumar explaining the problems faced in wells due to sand invasion. And how does this affect in different formations and specifically in Mangala Field. Then he explained about different measures taken by Cairn India to counter the problem like Slotted Liners, Gravel Packs etc. After which he explained in detail about Expandable Sand Screens and Inflow Control Devices (ICD).
With this the stage was passed on to Mr. Parvez Khan. His lecture focused on the various devices used to control sand invasion, the latest in Sand Control Screens and its predecessors. He focused on the technology behind these screens and explained with videos how they operate downhole.
Questions and Answer session followed the lectures and enthusiastic students and professors asked numerous questions. It made students aware of the latest devices and technologies used in sand control by leading companies of the industry.
